Christmas at The Hodcarrier, it’s a wonderful time. For most of us we are lucky enough to have a roof over our heads, family and friends around our table, a lovely Christmas meal and maybe even a few gifts.
Unfortunately for some that is not the case, and this is an extremely tough time of year!
Evie my 11 year old grandaughter, has recognised this. She has recognised the change in the weather, the coldness creeping in at nights and the wet throughout the days. As a sensitive young girl, she has requested that part of her Christmas present this year is spent getting food and supplies for the homeless and those people struggling at this time of year.
It is an extremely kind suggestion for her to make, a very mature and selfless request for someone of her age – one that we are all keen to support!
With that in mind, Dean and Evie have been out tonight to get an assortment of supplies for LWS Night Shelter whose mission is “to provide a hot meal, a safe place to sleep and company for the homeless and vulnerably-housed members of the community in Leamington Spa and the wider area”.
Now this is a fantastic start, but we would like to give you the opportunity to get involved in helping those struggling on our doorstep and local community. So if you are able to bring any of the following items to The Hodcarrier Pub in whitnash, we will arrange it gets dropped off at LWS – The first drop off will be saturday morning 14.12.19 then depending on uptake and support we will continue to arrange a weekly drop off over the festive season.
Shopping List
Tinned meals (curry, chilli, stew, meatballs), instant noodles, microwavable rice, instant mashed potato, squash, tinned fish, Cereal. Tinned custard, UHT milk, instant coffee, sugar, hot chocolate, tinned rice pudding, tea bags, biscuits/ chocolate of any form, tinned fruit.
Now before we go any further – categorically this is not a political post. Anything to do with it will be removed from this post! We want to encourage unity and community spirit and try to get as much together as possible for LWS to help at this tough time.
So the only question left is – WHO’S IN?
