Christmas at The Hodcarrier, it’s a wonderful time. For most of us we are lucky enough to have a roof over our heads, family and friends around our table, a lovely Christmas meal and maybe even a few gifts.
Unfortunately for some that is not the case, and this is an extremely tough time of year!
Evie my 11 year old grandaughter, has recognised this. She has recognised the change in the weather, the coldness creeping in at nights and the wet throughout the days. As a sensitive young girl, she has requested that part of her Christmas present this year is spent getting food and supplies for the homeless and those people struggling at this time of year.
It is an extremely kind suggestion for her to make, a very mature and selfless request for someone of her age – one that we are all keen to support!
With that in mind, Dean and Evie have been out tonight to get an assortment of supplies for LWS Night Shelter whose mission is “to provide a hot meal, a safe place to sleep and company for the homeless and vulnerably-housed members of the community in Leamington Spa and the wider area”.
Now this is a fantastic start, but we would like to give you the opportunity to get involved in helping those struggling on our doorstep and local community. So if you are able to bring any of the following items to The Hodcarrier Pub in whitnash, we will arrange it gets dropped off at LWS – The first drop off will be saturday morning 14.12.19 then depending on uptake and support we will continue to arrange a weekly drop off over the festive season.
Now before we go any further – categorically this is not a political post. Anything to do with it will be removed from this post! We want to encourage unity and community spirit and try to get as much together as possible for LWS to help at this tough time.
So the only question left is – WHO’S IN?
*Disclaimer, this is not being done in conjunction with LWS Night Shelter and we have simply chosen them as a known local provider.
Why bother!? The Hodcarrier Whitnash will be having our first New Years Eve party on Dec 31st 2019 – Starting at 19:30 the music will be jamming all night long, so we can see in the new year as a new part of the community!
We want to welcome you to your local pub, which is a stones throw away. You won’t need to worry about what to do with the car, cause your can take a stroll here.
You won’t need to worry about arranging an Uber into town at an extortionate rate, only to have it cancel 3 minutes before it arrives (we won’t even talk about getting home).
Best of all, you won’t need to worry about clearing up the mess of cans, bottles, glasses and food from the night before when you’re feeling a touch ‘delicate’.
Why not come and enjoy a great evening at The Hodcarrier with your friends, family and loved ones. Have a few drinks, with a fantastic atmosphere, maybe even a dance and let us worry about the rest!
Who likes coming to The Hodcarrier Whitnash, for the sports?
Who likes coming for the music?
Who likes being having a quality system to enjoy all of the entertainment on?
We are so happy to announce that The Hodcarrier has just had a brand new 100″ 4K professional hospitality entainment system installed in the main bar – let’s hear you say that 4 times fast!!
This promises to give you a high brightness, high quality, responsive picture, for watching all of the sport.
On top of that we’ve installed a top of the range 2.5k LG zoned sound system, for clearer commentary and exceptional sound quality for all of our music and events. As it is zoned it means we should be able to listen to two games in different areas, with minimal interference from the other game.
It also means that we’ve been able to rejig the current installation, allowing us to take advantage of the 4K potential of our current projector and screen, and have bigger screens for all other sports.
We are so pleased to be able to provide this to our customers and community. We know you love your sport and as we’re introducing more music, this should make a huge difference to the quality you receive.
Following the need to move #TedsBench, The Hodcarrier is honoured to be given the opportunity to have #TedsBench located on the grass, under our Hodcarrier sign.
We are so pleased to be considered a big enough part of the community to warrant the bench being moved here. #TedsBench has a planter attached, so that anyone wishing to leave flowers will be able and welcome to.
Figgy has also made a Curious George pumpkin, and lights have been incorporated for Halloween – so if any of the local children would like to turn the lights on and off each day they are welcome to, and it would be appreciated.
Thanks once again to Natalie & Kev for allowing us to look after #TedsBench. We look forward to seeing you soon and making sure it gets plenty of use!
